Around 1800 years have passed since Valerius last had to fight for his life in the amphitheater. He had dreamed of a life of fame and fortune, knowing full well that only a few gladiators could achieve such heights. As arena fighters, they eked out a living on the very margins of society.

Their courage and fighting spirit were admired, yet they were simultaneously despised as slaves who had to earn their meager living through hard physical labor in the dust of the amphitheater. Only a few managed to survive and buy their freedom. Valerius survived. But at what cost? Walking through the amphitheater, he relives all the suffering he has witnessed, all the blood he himself has shed. He follows the tracks of the animals, the fighters, the friends who lost their lives in the vast arena. And he tells of the day that still haunts him: the day he stood face to face with his best friend in the amphitheater.

Shocked yet impressed, visitors are immersed in a parallel world during this captivating guided tour, a long-gone era that seems so distant. And yet, Valerius holds a mirror up to them: How much of the struggle for life and death, the inner conflict between the will to survive and morality, the rivalry for power and honor has survived into our time? And how much of Valerius resides within us all? Judge for yourself!
